- School Opportunities Coordinator - coordinate area schools' needs and Imago Home Communities and other helpers. Contact Clark Blakeman:
- Portland Public Schools Parent Advisory Board - Provide important advice on how funds are spent and enhance parent policies in Portland's Title I schools. Attend parent workshops and trainings or attend a dinner meeting with childcare provided. You could also become more involved in your child's school, participate in parent workshops, set goals for parent involvement, and make needed recommendations to the District concerning Title I students and families. - Host a Winterization Workshop sponsored by Community Energy Project; 2+ hour training in making a home more energy efficient with up to $150 of materials to use in homes. Free to families who qualify. Go to communityenergyproject.org/schedulesr.html
- Garden/grounds up keep - PPS is understaffed for garden grounds upkeep. A group or individual could volunteer time to provide basic grounds care - talk to school administration for how to get involved
- Volunteer with SUN programs - an afterschool program for the promotion of learning, recreation, social and health services. Go to www.sunschools.org
- Volunteer as a teacher's aid or office help - contact your school of choice to begin this process of volunteering
- Home Communities "adopt" neighborhood school - offer your resources to the administration; engage in clothing or food drives, late season schools supplies, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, etc.
- Use your creative skills and craft - for example, use photography or painting to put on a workshop which the school otherwise may not be able to offer
- Hollywood Theater - There are ongoing projects with the theater and the non-profit organization which runs it. Contact Josh Butler for more information:
