global: upcoming events

Rwanda Night

Sunday, April 6th, 6-9pm

Come say goodbye to Pastor Benjamin Nkusi who's been with us the last 3 months from Rwanda!  For those who've missed his story, we'll have an in-depth interview and time of q+a with him.  Also live music from Rwandan band Hindurwa and snack-size portions of "Pilau"--a traditional Rwandan meal. (Evangel Baptist, 2830 NE Flanders, in sanctuary).

Bound

Conference on the Global Slave Trade
Saturday, April 12th, all-day

We are partnering with New Wine, New Wineskins, for a conference on the Global Slave Trade, featuring multiple keynote speakers, workshops and networking opportunities.  For us this will be a strong follow-up to the Human Trafficking Event we had in February.  For more info, see: new-wineskins.org/Events/Archives/2007-2008/Bound.html.

World Vision Experience: AIDS

April 11-14, 2008

World Vision is working with churches nationwide to provide awareness and education on the topic of AIDS and the impact on Africa's children.  A traveling exhibit that takes you, momentarily, into the lives of four children and how they have been impacted by AIDS--becoming orphans, sexual abuse, siblings raising siblings, and in virtually all cases, abject poverty.  We have the opportunity to see this exhibit, free of charge, at Sunset Presbyterian in Portland (14986 NW Cornell Rd).  For more details, reservations, or to volunteer, visit their website at: www.sunsetpres.org/experience.  April 11-14, 2008, 9am-9pm (Volunteers are needed April 10-15).

Philosophy

The Global ministry exists to foster discipleship in our community towards maturity in Christ's global kingship, his missional heartbeat, and loving pursuit of the world.  At Imago Dei, we aim to develop exposure, discipleship and various levels of expression of this biblical value in our life as a people.  In addition to various events and classes, listed below are some of the avenues in which this value is expressed.
