advocacy: sexual slavery

generating awareness, concern and advocacy for social justice issues around the globe

global advocacy group: sexual slavery
"They (women in prostitution) have survived abuse and exploitation and have sought to live with as much dignity as their occupation allows them. They are mothers who have sold sex in order for their children to eat, they are poor girls escaping impoverished homes, and they are young women who are sold for sex so that their brothers and sisters can have a better chance in life than they themselves were offered. Prostitution, in these instances, is a human rights abuse. And so is the poverty and the limited life chances that force or encourage many women to sell their bodies in the first case. Prostitution is not always about violence but it is always about power. It is about the power to buy intimacy and the power to establish a relationship of domination. "
