The church of God is those called to be saints who call upon the name of Jesus Christ.
(cf. 1 Corinthians 1:2) Prayer is essential to and inseparable from the new life brought by Jesus Christ. Without it, no one has ever placed a valid claim on the name Christian. The Bible tells us to, "Be constant in prayer." We understand this to be so fundamental that the church of God can be defined as those who "in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ." Imago Dei desires to cultivate a great understanding of the freedom prayer offers to every believer. This comes first by understanding what God's Word teaches us about prayer, for God is himself the designer of this wonderful communion with him and the one calling us to participate in it. "Seek the Lord," God invites. And again he says, "Call upon him." (Isaiah 55:6) Gathering for prayer together is how we as a community of believers can share in this communion with God. We get to develop relationships with one another at a very authentic level as we listen in on, agree with, and are encouraged by each other's prayers. |

Comments:
Hi, my name is Rebekah.
I am requesting prayer because changes may be entering my life soon.
My landlord has found a buyer for the house I live in and I am on a month-to-month lease.
I have had a couple people close to me suggest that I look for housing in Portland because they know I have been falling in love with it via the www.
I stream Rick's sermons and get them from itunes and find them so nourishing.
Strangely, I have been given a trip to Portland by my father and will be there for ten days beginning 8/1. This was arranged months ago.
I will be bringing a girlfriend of mine who wants to meet with a realtor while in town. She likes change.
I have some grief as I think of leaving my small east coast city but I know that I need to explore possibilities.
Imago is the best church I have ever heard of and it will be great to sit in the congregation.
So, is anyone in the church renting an apartment or studio etc.?
I have worked for ten years as a caregiver to the elderly population of my town and would be looking for similar work.
My prayer request is for direction and peace.
Thank you so much.
I've heard a lot abt Imago dei thru Miller's works. Now I'm a regular listener to Rick. I am thankful to God for allowing me to know this community. I desperately request prayer for peace and stronger faith in my life. I've been in the valley for sometime and the vision upward is easily blurred. I've had a broken engagement in the past year. I'm currently in grad school. I need prayer for strength to get through school as it is very challenging. More importantly, I need prayer to grow in Christ thru these dark times.
