Women's Forum 660 - new

The women’s forum is designed to help every woman at Imago Dei grow in the holistic freedom and security that comes from founding her identity on the love of Christ. Several yearly forums will seek to identify and address key topics in the physical, emotional, and spiritual lives of women. By addressing these issues corporately and honestly, it is our prayer and hope that Imago Dei women will grow in community, authenticity, understanding, and a maturing sense of their security in the love of Christ.

Starting right at 9:30...

The word “mother” potentially illicits intimate emotions, as our mothers are so closely tied to our own stories.  Perhaps your mother was well-meaning but unavailable, controlling, distracted, fearful, worried, overbearing, chaotic, or absent because of addiction or depression, or death.  Maybe she was even angry or abusive.  In contrast, perhaps you have images of your mother as a faithful, nurturing, peaceful presence.  As one who was or is kind, strong, competent, attentive, delighted in you, playful, friendly, and loving.  Most likely, however, your experience with your own mother, or as a mother, incorporates qualities that are found in both of these realities.

Let’s come together and talk about our mothers, how they’ve shaped and formed us, and the implications of how that relationship, or lack of relationship, plays out in our lives.
We will seek to ground ourselves in God’s generosity amidst failure, pain, and abundance…so we can trust and depend on Christ as we offer a nurturing presence to others.

March 26th 2011: What are we about with those closest to us?

Movement towards others doesn’t just happen outside our four walls; it also happens in the spaces we live.  What are we about in our relationships?   What are we about with those who are nearest and dearest to us, or near and perhaps not so dear?

November 13th 2010: What are we about with those around us?

We hear words about loving the city, loving the world, and our neighbor, but what does that mean?  Our lives are fractured and busy: some spend our days in cubicles or board rooms, others surrounded by children who need care, perhaps alongside classmates who are as overwhelmed as we are. These are the people amongst whom God has placed us.  God moves out by His Spirit into the places we live to bind up broken hearts, comfort those who mourn, proclaim freedom, beauty and hope and He does that by being alive and present through his people. God is incarnated in each of us in a unique way. Expressing God’s love and attentiveness can take many different forms: baking a cake, helping a neighbor mow his lawn, or showing up on a Saturday to spend time with the homeless.

So if God has anointed with his Spirit as these kind people what does that really look like?  It may or may not be what we expect; it may be quite monumental or could be a very small step, it may even look like slowing down.   Let’s come together to explore what the Spirit of God might be saying to us about those around us.

What is it to Wait? (February 27, 2010) - Download the mp3 HERE.
What if God is asking you to wait?  For marriage, for a child, for physical health?  For restored relationship, for a job, for purpose, for hope ...most of us are aware of deep, personal longings.  How do we find Christ when our desires and dreams go unfulfilled?  Join us for a discussion on the purpose of waiting, and how we can trust God as we live in the midst of uncertainty.

What is it to Heal? (April 24, 2010 at 9:30 am)

How do we let go of past hurts, wrongs, sin, and grief? We naturally question our wounds, yet we serve a wounded Christ.  How do we pursue wholeness in the light of Christ’s suffering?  How do we turn forward and anticipate God’s purpose and presence in our life ahead?  Join us as we acknowledge our pain, but move towards Christ’s invitation to healing.
