We believe that art and music can life inspire and beautify us all. This is why we provide an environment where Portland’s youth can discover, experience and learn about their own artistic passions.

The arts instill a sense of worth, belonging and discipline in those who participate. Unfortunately, this opportunity is missing for many students in Portland area students because music and art have been reduced or eliminated in many of the schools. This is the reason Vibe exists- to provide a creative outlet in the arts to kids of any age. We have several different avenues in which we serve the community: after school programs at Harrison Park, Pint-Size Picasso: preschool art classes at TaborSpace and private music lessons through our PLAY music scholarship.

Harrison Park is the most diverse K-8 school in the Portland Public School district with over half of students qualifying for free or reduced lunches. Vibe's after school classes include Art Foundations for middle school, Beyond Guitar Hero, and Vibe Voices (choir) with Vibrant Rhythms (percussion), Comic Creations (illustration/ design your own super hero), and Art Foundations for 3-5th grade starting in the Fall of 2010.

Pint-Size Picasso, offered quarterly, lets kids ages 3-5 experience several different art mediums with age appropriate projects from clay, to puppet making and painting. All kids can use their creativity to express themselves to the fullest in this class.

Through a generous donation from Kathy Grambsch of Vancouver, Vibe of Portland started PLAY in the Spring of 2010. PLAY: Private Lessons Advancing Youth provides students from middle school through college the opportunity to take individual music lessons to improve and strengthen their talents. Each student recieving a PLAY scholarship gives back to the community through performance, volunteering for Vibe's other classes or helping out with Vibe in some way.

We have many volunteer opportunities from teaching classes or private music lessons, assisting teachers, helping with events or with the administrative side of Vibe.
