Empowering Portland’s Youth through Art and Music
Ministry Vision:
God doesn’t create drab stick-figure people in a black-and-white world, but rather a robust world full of color, variety and life. God desires that in and through him, we would not only survive, but would thrive. Art & music play a significant role in this human flourishing God desires for his world.
Vibe’s mission is to provide quality arts and music educational experiences to students in the Portland Metro area regardless of their socioeconomic background. Due to lack of funding in the Portland Metro Area, many programs in the arts and music have been drastically reduced or altogether eliminated from the educational experience for students.
We offer affordable or free after school programs in SE Portland. We have strong presence at two of Imago Dei’s Love Portland partnership schools and through volunteer presence have deepened these ongoing, constructive relationships. Our classes include guitar, percussion, choir, illustration and general art. Our classes help educate, challenge, provide discipline and creativity, and instill a sense of worth and accomplishment in Portland’s youth in a positive and creative environment.
Ways to Get Involved
- Professionals: if you have experience in Administration, Marketing, PR or Organizational Development, come join us to help with our current growth! Vibe has grown over 600% in the last year and we need help developing the infrastructure to facilitate this growth and plan towards the future.
- Artists, Musicians: we currently have enough volunteers in this area, but if you are highly interested and skilled, please contact us so we can be aware for future opportunities!
