Mentoring Fatherless Youth in Portland
Ministry Vision:
Every child deserves and needs a father, but not every child has one—this is where a mentor can step in. A mentor is simply a trusted friend. In Portland, over 1000 fatherless youth are on a waiting list for mentors. Kids without dads stand a greater risk of going to prison, dropping out of school, committing suicide and living on the streets.
Caring for the fatherless is central to the heart of God and is to be central to the people of God. God names himself father, protector, defender and provider of the fatherless. Our vision is to equip, train and support men in our church to become quality mentors for fatherless youth in our city.
If you are a male and would like an opportunity to re-write the fatherless story, or want more information, contact us and let us know. Imago Dei’s The Mentoring Project team is part of a broader national movement (www.thementoringproject.org) equipping faith communities to stand in the gap of fatherlessness in our country.
