Artists in the Body

Imago Dei values its artists as gifted by God to do many things through their crafts. In one context, a piece may serve to inspire or lead others to worship. In another, it may convey a theological truth that is above rational modes of knowing. In yet another, it might provoke questions, convictions, passions, or dissatisfaction with the status quo. Art can give comfort, consolation, hope, a refreshed view of vital truths. It can also give simple pleasure--a smile, a laugh, maybe a cocked head and a quizzical look.

In other words, art, as a gift and instrument of the Spirit, has great power to help Christ-followers be truly human, to be like Christ. That is why this website is built to NEED art. It gives tangible representation to the Body's commitment to its artists. Conversely, it provides a dynamic reminder to artists that the Body needs their commitment in return.

Original Work and Diversity

All art on this site is the work of a Christ follower involved with Imago Dei Community. No one piece is meant to be a permanent fixture. The vision is that every image will change and flow, dynamic and active as Christ's Body. It is also important to note that while the images themselves represent part of the Body's creative diversity, they should not be taken as an attempt to mirror Imago Dei's ethnic diversity, which can best be discovered by visiting on Sunday.

Submission

If you are an Imago Dei artist and would like to submit a piece for the site's regularly cycling image library, please contact
