On Monday nights we gather together for Refuge night. The night begins with everyone gathering together as a larger community for about 20-30 minutes. During these times we are encouraged to consider Christ's healing love through worship, someone's story of recovery, or a biblical truth that brings hope to those struggling with life’s issues.
Then small groups will gather together for an extended time, which includes educational pieces, relationship building, accountability, and affirmation. Our expectation is that God meets people where they're at, loves them fully, and creates transformation in their lives.
Although Refuge is not professional counseling we will do our best to evaluate how things are going for each individual, which may include making recommendations, either for professional help of some sort or for beginning to transition into other less specific community groups of our church. We may also encourage individuals to find an area where they can be of service; serving others is also a part of the healing process and often can be a way to give back to the community from which one has gained support.
We also offer a class on Refuge night. The class is open to anyone and is for both men and women. Friends and family are welcome to come in support of those in recovery. The class does not require paperwork or an interview. People may be in the class as long as they want; if and when you want to transition into a group, all you have to do is ask.
Once a month on Mondays we will try and do some sort of community building activity. This may be a potluck before the small groups or participation in another Imago activity that would be beneficial for the group. As we journey together we believe it is valuable to allow space for relational growth and opportunity for risk in a more social context.
Childcare is also provided on Monday nights. If you are interested in knowing more about this please click on the childcare tab on the sidebar.
