Weekly Meal with those Living on the Streets
Ministry Vision:
Every Saturday, we cook and share a meal with approximately 100 people living on the streets in our neighborhood. Often they are struggling with mental illness, physical sickness or disabilities. Most are on fixed incomes and alienated from family. Many just need a listening ear as much as a nutritious meal. So when you sit down with a steaming bowl of chili or curry or a baked potato we forget that our lives are different and can relate to many of each other’s problems.
Our vision is to embody the hospitality of Christ to those in our neighborhood struggling to survive. We strive to make food we would want to eat, give away clothing we would want to wear—or did wear last week, and treat everyone like we would want to be treated. (Matthew 7:12) We believe God has created us equally in his image, and those who serve are no more or less valuable than those who are served. This is why both those who cook and those who come to eat are the “Three O’Clock People.”
